Two voices,
one conversation
Duo Rhosia was founded in autumn 2021 by violist Matti Lindholm and pianist Alina Sorjonen. What began as the preparation of two recital programmes has grown into a rich ongoing artistic partnership rooted in years of shared chamber music making. At the core of their repertoire are the great Romantic and late-Romantic sonatas, including Shostakovich, Brahms, Rachmaninoff and Rebecca Clarke, alongside carefully chosen works spanning many periods and styles.
Beyond individual concerts, the duo has undertaken ambitious larger projects, among them an instrumental reimagining of Schubert's Winterreise presented across a six-concert Finnish tour in summer 2024, and performances in London and Dublin in spring 2025. Duo Rhosia has collaborated with Ethno Contemporary Ballet, Klockriketeatern, and a wide circle of musicians and visual artists, expanding their concerts into multidisciplinary experiences. The name Rhosia weaves together the players' initials while evoking the Greek symbol of the rose: beauty, passion, and mystery.
